How to check how many instances are running?

Following useful command for checking how many instances are running in your Unix and Linux box.

command is

#ps -ef|grep smon|grep -v grep

Output of above commands will be showing you how many instances are running on system. Because every instance has smon (system monitor background process). Without smon process instance never up and running. You can use pmon instead of smon too in same script. If you have any doubt or confusion then open support ticket to our support center.
